Patrol Boats - HORIZON INTERCEPTOR
12m HORIZON INTERCEPTOR
The HORIZON INTERCEPTOR catamaran combines the advantages of low acquisition and maintenance costs with the highest level of safety, stability, crew comfort and performance into one compact craft.
The catamaran or twin-hull concept has been employed in high-speed craft design for decades. The division of displacement and water plane area between two relatively slender hulls results in a large deck area, good meta centric stability qualities and consequently a small rate and angle of roll, in a relatively small vessel. The greater stability of the craft makes the maximum deck area available for equipment placement and also allows for great flexibility in deck layout in support of variable roles.
A combination of proven catamaran design, Hydro- Foil supported catamaran technology and Caterpillar marine diesel engines, provides the HORIZON INTERCEPTOR with an excellent level of versatility and economy even under the most demanding sea conditions.
The advanced hydro-supportive foil technology allows an improved power to weight ratio and affords significant cost savings compared to conventional mono hull craft.
Superior manoeuvrability and directional stability are the results of a combination of symmetrical and asymmetrical hull shapes. Unique tunnel steps create a two phase medium of water and air, dampening vertical accelerations, while the sponsor configuration assures banking on the inside during turns. This, combined with the correct weight distribution and bow design, allows for non-broaching even in the heaviest following seas.
The two counter rotating marine diesel engine option permits speeds in excess of 35 knots.
All command, surveillance and navigation equipment required to perform police functions, fisheries patrol, diver support and search and rescue operations are included: VHF radio, Compass with digital display, depth gauge, speed log heading repeater, radar antenna and radar display unit.
The wheelhouse features full engine instrumentation and control panels for all onboard systems with two shock absorbing seats. The two forward cabins sleep four in single bunks. A self-contained head and wash basin are fitted on the port side. The galley on the starboard side is fitted with a fresh water sink and can accommodate a microwave oven, a cooker top plate and a domestic refrigerator. Ample cupboard storage space is also provided. The open plan saloon is provided with a built-in settee and dining table. The fly-deck is fitted with a dual helm.
In designing the HORIZON INTERCEPTOR, our overriding concern was to provide a thoroughbred blue water craft along with an unsurpassed level of safety, a high standard of sea keeping, excellent crew comfort, a fast "sprint" speed but with an extended loitering capability, high reliability and high availability.
